Aging
Aging is a significant life transition. As we grow older, we experience changes in our bodies and our minds. Aging is, most often, a gradual process that requires regular self-analysis and sensitivity to changes in our physical conditions and our mental cognitive condition. Recognizing that the aging process is an inevitable aspect of the life cycle, we are continually confronted with the emotional and attitudinal adjustments that are needed in order to travel along the aging pathway with acceptance that changes will occur. For each physical and mental change that we experience, we will need to make a conscious decision regarding acquiescence to the change as it occurs.
Since we have not previously experienced aging, when the process begins we are confronted with learning new coping skills. These skills may be developed by increasing our knowledge about the aging process through various resources that are available to us. Our doctors, our family, our friends, online resources, and our family history are resources from which we can explore the aspects of aging and through which we can learn to accept and adapt to the changes that we experience as we age.
